Free Schools (16-18yrs)

Our founders have always been passionate about providing world class training to everyone and not just those privileged few.

Having trialled the Free Schools model at Canterbury Academy for the past few years we can assure you that it works both educationally and financially for the school.

We do not replace the staff that are currently there but instead work collaboratively with them to get the best results for the students and in turn for the performing arts industry. The students results speak for themselves but at Canterbury we can boast professionally working students in projects such as the film version of Les Miserable, Into the Woods, Kick Ass 2, Call the Midwife and Casualty.

We can also boast one of the highest acceptance rates of succesful auditions into further drama training with Canterbury students gaining places at RADA, East 15 Drama School, Mountview, The Royal Holloway, The New York Film Academy and The Lee Strasberg School in Los Angeles to name a few.

"Our unique system of running a 'stage school' model delivered by our Industry professionals, and blending this with our outstanding and experienced classroom based staff, means we turn out some of the most highly-trained and high-achieving Performing Arts students in the country" - Tony Greenlaw - Head of Performing Arts - Canterbury Institute for Performing Arts

The Canterbury Academy has seen an increase in applications and the school now runs an audition process for entry. Please visit www.canterburyperformingarts.com for more info.

If you feel your Academy or school would be interested in hosting one of our Free School Programmes for your students then please get in touch for further information on how it works.

Theatre Companies

Many Productions require specific drama techniques to get the best out of the performance. You may want to provide your cast with a refresher workshop or, like the National Theatre of China, provide the actors with an extensive knowledge base. Working with the countries leading practitioners we can design the right course for you.
