Broadening our horizons...
Actors Training were asked to provide a specialist 4 week Physical Theatre training programme for the actors of the Chinese National Theatre in Beijing. The course was to incorporate elements of training in the styles of Le Coq, Complicite and Commedia Dell’arte that could be utilised by the Theatres Actors ahead of their production of Warhorse and in further up and coming productions in Beijing. We provided them with 6 highly skilled Physical Theatre practitioners and directors to work with 20 actors over a 4 week period on location in China. After 2 weeks of intensive training the actors started work with our directors on applying their skills to a specially selected group of scenes to culminate in a presentation for the heads of the Theatre. We also supplied the theatre with assessments of the actors abilities and gave suggestions as to where the actors would be best utilised. There was a huge amount of interest in our appearance from the countries leading drama professors and national press. The trip was as huge success and we have been asked back to supply further training.
